Ethical Dilemma Case Study

Ethical dilemma case study

Q Choose one of the three ethical conflict situations you have identified (the same one you used in your framework), and write a 5-6 page paper (double spaced, 12 point font, 1-inch margins) using APA format. Please do NOT hand in a first draft. All papers should be edited and revised, so your writing is strong, convincing, and well-organized. Do NOT exceed 6 pages – only the first 6 will be used in grading. If your paper runs longer than 6 pages, edit it again, cut out unnecessary or repetitive writing, and use it as an opportunity to refine your writing skills. Include a minimum of 6 references: at least 3 must be from research related to the issues in the dilemma. Research should be primarily from peer-reviewed journal articles, but can also be from reports, books, professional organizations, or other reliable sources of information on your topic. Further details are available in the attached description. You can also review exemplars to see how to qualify for maximum points in this assignment. Submit your paper electronically by the due date into Blackboard. Please reference readings from the class, course textbooks, or other readings. Include the following in your paper: 1. Description of the ethical dilemma 1. The most relevant guidance from professional codes of ethics, universal ethical approaches and values, and ethical safeguards; 2. Your proposed resolution. Describe how you might resolve this dilemma. 3. What steps are needed to resolve this dilemma? Make sure to justify your proposed resolution based on: • Guidance from professional codes of ethics & guidance from more universal ethical concepts; and • The additional facts you would gather to inform resolution; • What relevant current research says (i.e. what are best practices on the relevant issues); • Information needed (and how you would get it) from those involved or with an important perspective on the dilemma; • The multi-step process of resolving dilemmas from class readings and discussion. 4. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the resolution proposed in your case study should include: • Whether the professional codes of ethics and ethical safeguards are adequate or inadequate for the conflict situation in your case study; • Whether the more universal ethical concepts are adequate or inadequate for the conflict situation; • Reference to relevant literature on ethical issues in the field; • Describe ways in which ethical safeguards could be strengthened to better serve clients and service providers in the area you have been examining; • Students with direct experience in the field should relate such experiences to their evaluation of ethical efficacy; • Reflect on the issue of personal ethics - is it possible to hold high professional ethics without personal ethics?

A parent of a child in my class had been coming late during closing hours regularly to pick his child from school. I had allowed the parent to pick his child a little late after closing hours because the parent had been a single parent. Moreover, the working hours of the parent had been such that he would have to leave his workplace at a time delaying his arrival at the school. Another teacher had noticed this practice and had shown objections to my practice of allowing parents to come late after closing hours. The teacher who had objected to my practice had considered my practice to be a lesson for other teachers.
